| "Hi all Lex Barker-Fans. My name is Jana Doubková. I'm 19 years old girl from Praha (Czech Republic). I graduated high school in May 2004 and I would like to study spanish at university. I don't have brother or a sister but like my "sister" is my best friend Zuzka (born 1983), also fan of Lex Barker. She is very close to me and sometimes I say that we are as close to each other as our heroes - Winnetou and Old Shatterhand. My hobbies - apart from Lex Barker - are: Karl May books and collecting everything about May-films. I also collect small calendars, autographs from skaters and actors. I like dancing (ballet and latin dance), listening to music (Queen, Karma, Gabry Ponte, spanish music), going to the cinema or to the theatre, being with my friends, doing sports (figure skating, volleyball, athletics), writing letters, poems, stories (I'm writting my own version of the stories with Winnetou and Old Shatterhand and I play Winnetou's love there) and learning languages (I can speak czech, english, spanish and I would like to learn italian)." |
| How did you get to Lex Barker? |
| First time I saw May-movie, when I was about 8 years old. I fell in love with Winnetou because I have always liked Indians and their culture. I have also read books written by Karl May, mainly the stories with Winnetou because I didn't like the oriental stories. I think the Orient-movies are much better than the books. But it's only my opinion. To tell the truth, at the beginning I liked Winnetou (and of course Pierre Brice) much better than Lex Barker. But this year it started to change. It's hard to explain it, but maybe I will express it like this: I like Winnetou as a character, as an Indian, and Lex Barker (Old Shatterhand) as a man. I'm always happy to get to know more people in my age who like Lex Barker. It's so sad that action and horror movies are much more popular these days than May-movies with the values which can be appreciated also today: friendship, love, etc. But nowadays people think only on themselves and don't care about the world around them. |
Why is Lex Barker your most favourite actor? |
Lex Barker is one of my most favourite actors because - in my opinion - he was one of the best actors the world has ever seen. I'm sure that he deserves a star on the "Walk of fame" in Hollywood. I'm very sad that he has been dead for such a long time. I like him very much and I'm thinking of him very often. I also wanted to know him, because I think he was a wonderfull person and had a charm. I always wanted to know an as good-looking man as Lex was, but men like him aren't born every day and I think the world lost a big man with a big heart when Lex died. |
| What is you most favourite Lex-Barker-movie? How many movies did you see with him? |
| My most favourite film with Lex is 'Der Schatz der Azteken' because in my opinion it's one of Lex' best perfomances I have ever seen. I also like 'Winnetou 3' very much because it's a very emotional film and we can feel the grief of Old Shatterhand when he lost his brother; we can also see it in his eyes. Lex had very magical eyes and I'm sure many girls fell in love with him. My third favourite movie is 'La dolce vita'. It was the first time when I heard Lex' voice in the film. His role in this film is small but I was waiting for it the whole film. I agree what is said that Lex played "himself" a little bit in this film. Maybe. I have seen only May-movies and 'La dolce vita' because the czech channels don't show other movies with him (once there was one Tarzan-movie but I didn't see it). I can't speak german and can't catch german channels. I'm sad that all books about Lex and about May-films are only in german. But I hope I will be able to read them one day. |
